On August 24, 2018, at Eurowindow Office Building, Hanoi, the National Institute of Architecture and Eurowindow jointly organized the Workshop "Dissemination of fire prevention standards and standards in construction works and practical issues”.

According to the statistics of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department (Fire Prevention and Fighting), in the first 6 months of the whole year, there were more than 2000 fires in the country, especially fires in large apartment buildings in big cities like Ha Noi, Tp. Ho Chi Minh City caused serious damage both to people and property.

The most serious fire in the past 15 years occurred at Carina Plaza, Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, March 23, 2018, with more than 50 people injured, 13 cars and 150 motorbikes burned, alarmed about the inadequacies and limitations that exist in the design and construction process building and operating the fire protection system in high-rise apartment buildings in Vietnam.

With the aim of increasing the exchange of regulations, standards on fire prevention and fighting, legal basis, coordination mechanism among stakeholders, issues of training on fire prevention and fighting skills for people when they occur incidents at apartment buildings, high-rise buildings, on August 24, the National Institute of Architecture of the Ministry of Construction in collaboration with Eurowindow organized a Workshop on "Dissemination of Fire Protection Regulations and Standards at the Building constructive and practical issues.”

Eurowindow co-organized the Workshop "Dissemination of fire safety regulations and standards in construction works and practical issues.”

Attending the seminar were Ms. Pham Thuy Loan - Deputy Director of National Institute of Architecture, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Quang Viet - Deputy Director of Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Eurowindow's leadership, together 100 guests are experts, architects, design consultants and investors.

Commenting on the current status of the implementation of regulations on fire prevention and fighting in Vietnam, Dr. Phan Anh - Lecturer of Department of Fire Prevention, University of Fire Prevention and Fighting said: “The observance of the provisions of the law on FPF and standards , standards in design, pre-acceptance test of fire prevention and putting works into operation of investors, management units, management board of apartments are still incomplete, there are many shortcomings and mistakes arising in operation. It is common to violate the conditions to prevent fire spread, escape, operation of fire prevention and fighting systems and equipment ".

Dr. Phan Anh explained that the cause of these shortcomings and violations is due to the absence of a complete system of national technical standards and regulations on fire protection and condominiums, especially with buildings over 100m high.

Dr. Phan Anh - Lecturer of Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting at the University of Fire Prevention and Control presented the status of designing and operating the fire protection system in high-rise apartment buildings.

Regarding the responsibility of the investor and business units of fire prevention and fighting services, due to the heavy emphasis on economic goals, the safety and life of the people are underestimated when deliberately cutting the initial investment costs for FPF Using poor quality systems, construction is not in accordance with the original design standards.

In fact, the production and business units of fire protection products and services in Vietnam are still limited in quantity and quality, but still do not meet the requirements of building materials products (construction materials) with fire protection features. . Due to large investment capital requirements and high scientific and technological level, currently in Vietnam, only a few large enterprises boldly invest in the development of construction materials products with fire protection effects, typically JSC. Eurowindow.

Representative of the enterprise, Mr. Vu Trong Trung - Deputy General Director of Eurowindow said at the conference: “With the goal of always associating the interests of enterprises with the common interests of the society, during the past 16 years, Eurowindow has always been pioneering to bring the best solutions for large glass aluminum doors and systems, contributing to improving the quality of life of people and modernizing urban architecture.

In particular, the field of manufacturing and application of safety and fireproof door and wall products is highly developed by Eurowindow with the introduction of many fireproof and door products with high fire resistance. Such as fire-proof wooden doors, fire-resistant steel doors, smoke compartments, large glass-aluminum walls, automatic doors and rolling doors integrated with fire alarm systems...”

Mr. Vu Trong Trung - Deputy General Director of Eurowindow introduces products of safe and fireproof doors and walls of Eurowindow

Eurowindow window, doors, large glass products are currently provided to the market, in addition to helping cover the building, creating traffic corridors, ventilation, getting natural light, ensuring sound insulation, insulated, safe under the impact of natural disasters, wind and storm, it is also capable of preventing fire, explosion, preventing smoke in a period of up to 60-90-120 minutes to help extend the time of emergency exit and rescue, release toxic gas.

Fireproof wooden doors Eurowindow are made of natural wood impregnated with flame retardant and Calcium Silicate mineral flame retardant. The door surface is covered with a layer of natural veneer and PU paint finishes, increasing the aesthetics. Eurowindow fire rated wooden doors have been certified by the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, ensuring specifications and fire protection for 60-90-120 minutes.

Eurowindow refractory steel doors have a molded structure and a framework of 1.6mm thick hot-dip galvanized steel frames and 1.2mm galvanized steel wings, a honeycomb core (carton cover) and EPDM gaskets that allow extended fire resistance time up to 90 minutes meeting "A Grade" standards - The highest standard for fireproof steel doors. Thanks to its good fire resistance, Eurowindow fireproof steel doors are often used as emergency staircase doors, warehouse doors, meeting rooms, fire-proof partitions, fire dividing doors for traffic corridors in the building.

Eurowindow smoke and fire doors and partitions introduced at the seminar were highly appreciated by experts, management leaders and architects about the quality and fire protection ability. Dr. Ly Van Vinh - National Institute of Architecture said: “All construction materials from doors, partitions, fire-proof doors for emergency staircases, etc. are mentioned in Vietnamese standards, FPF in apartments and high-rise buildings to help minimize accidents and disasters caused by fire.

For Eurowindow products, I highly appreciate that Eurowindow constantly develops sustainable products and contributes to FPF for high-rise apartment buildings. The right development orientation of Eurowindow is also the goals that Vietnam's construction industry is aiming at”.

Dr. Ly Van Vinh - National Institute of Architecture participated in discussions and discussions with experts at the workshop

At the seminar, solutions to enhance fire prevention and fighting activities for high-rise apartment buildings were also discussed under multi-dimensional perspectives of experts, state management leaders and representatives of some businesses providing building materials products with explosion-proof properties.

Thus, in order to overcome the above-mentioned shortcomings and limitations, at the same time, in order to raise the awareness and quality, the effectiveness of the state management of fire prevention and fighting, it is required to have a coordinated implementation between State agencies, Party Committees, local authorities, along with investors, fire protection product providers, management units, management boards and people to minimize risk of unfortunate incidents in the future.
