Tempered And Heat Strengthened Glass

TEMPERED GLASS

Tempered glass is tempered at a temperature of about 700^oC and rapidly cooled by gas to create surface tension, increase endurance, resistance to impact, withstand large loads and resistance to breakage due to thermal stress. Features:

• 4-5 times stronger than ordinary float glass of the same type, same thickness and size.
• When being under excessive stresses, the glass shatter into small granular chunks which are less likely to cause injury to users.
• Withstands extreme thermal shock, the temperature difference between the surface and the core is over 200^oC while that of normal glass is not more than 50^o

All Eurowindow tempered glass products are put in Heat-Soak-Test chamber after tempering. During the testing, faulty glasses will break on their own and be removed to minimize the risk of “spontaneous breakage” when in use. Eurowindow is proud to be the only unit in Vietnam that imports this glass testing equipment from Germany according to the test standard EN 14179-1 09/2005.

HEAT-STRENGTHENED GLASS

Heat-strengthened glass has the same tempering process as   tempered glass, but has its own heating and cooling method. Features: 

• 2-3 times stronger than ordinary float glass of the same size and thickness.

• When being under excessive stress, the glass will crack in a long wavy line from the center of the impact to the glass frame without breaking out and falling off dangerously like normal glass, or not shattering right away like  tempered glass.
• Besides, the plasticity of the glass is better, ensuring for works at height and under wind load.

APPLICATIONS

Tempered glass and heat-strengthened glass have high hardness, so they can withstand strong impact, vibration, be resistant to thermal shock, scratches… Therefore, they are the perfect choice for construction projects that require safety, high mechanical strength and often used in construction and interior decoration as: large glass walls, facades, partitions, hydraulic doors, stair railings, windows, doors, car doors, glass tables, glass shower rooms, cabinets,...
